OCALA, Fla. — The Metal Roofing Alliance (MRA) has selected a remarkable residential reroofing project completed by Worthouse Inc., a leading metal roofing manufacturer headquartered in Elk Grove Village, Ill., as the winner of its Best Metal Roofing Project competition for the second quarter of 2022.

The award-winning metal roof is the crowning touch on a stately 7,800 square-foot home in Ocala, Fla., built in 1994. The home’s new roof replaced a worn-out concrete tile roof and Worthouse and the installer, Innovative Sheet Metal, were able to overcome plenty of project challenges, including grappling with a range of different pitch elevations, complex detail work and an extremely tight two-week lead time.

These challenges — and the end result — are what made the project such a stand-out in the view of the MRA judges. The homeowners chose Worthouse’s Supre modular metal roofing product made with 26-gauge steel that offers long-lasting protection against wear, corrosion and extreme weather conditions. Worthhouse’s metal tiles have been tested at wind speeds exceeding 200 mph and are designed to withstand severe Category 4 hail damage. The new roof also delivers an outstanding warranty, energy savings benefits and maximum curb appeal, complementing the home’s beautiful architectural style perfectly.

“Quality metal roofs not only look great, they deliver excellent performance. In fact, many of our customers have experienced a decrease in energy bills and insurance premiums as a result of installing a long-lasting and reliable metal roof,” said Justin Wickham of Worthouse Inc.

With the second 2022 quarterly winner selected, the 2022 Q3 competition for the MRA’s Best Residential Metal Roofing competition is now underway. The quarterly competition is open to all homeowners as well as builders, contractors and roofing installers in the U.S. and Canada (where allowable) who believe their metal roof project is the best based on either performance, style or both. The MRA is offering a $300 cash prize to each quarter’s winner and will showcase them in the organization’s marketing efforts.

11 Building Projects Receive North American Copper Architecture Award

MCLEAN, Va. — Eleven building projects across the United States and Canada recently received the prestigious North American Copper in Architecture (NACIA) award from the Copper Development Association (CDA) for their outstanding application of architectural copper and copper alloys.

Since its launch in 2008, the NACIA awards program has recognized 189 copper buildings in the U.S. and Canada, including notable buildings such as the Colorado State Capitol, Harvard Law School, The Plaza Hotel, and St. Patrick's Basilica.

‎“‎The 2022 NACIA winners exhibit copper’s endless range of applications through innovation in new and historical restoration projects,” ‎said Larry Peters, project manager and architectural applications specialist for CDA. “Answering the growing demand to meet environmental goals using sustainable building materials, the 2022 winners demonstrate a perfect balance of maximizing green materials and longevity, creating architecture masterpieces for generations to come.”

The 11 winning projects were selected by a panel of judges based on the presence and use of copper and the significance of the project at hand — whether historic, modern, or otherwise. A complete list of winners can be found below with further details and photos available at copper.org.
