PABCO Roofing Products announced that its full Signature Cut line had earned the UL 2218 Class 4 impact resistance rating, extending beyond the Prestige shingles to include the Paramount, Cascade and Paramount Advantage shingles. The Cascade shingle in the Signature Cut collection features a patented diamond shape. With its new UL 2218 Class 4 impact resistance certification, Cascade is now versatile for Class 4 applications.

The ECP division of IPG, a manufacturer of polyolefin products, announced that its roofing underlayment product, NovaSeal, has been awarded the Cradle to Cradle Certified Silver level certification, granted by the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute for environmental and performance standards. ECP described NovaSeal as a high-performance underlayment designed for use under metal, asphalt shingles, synthetic shingles, primed cedar shakes, and most tiles. Its waterproof construction protects residential and commercial steep-slope roofs from extreme weather, while the slip-resistant nonwoven top surface enhances jobsite safety during installation. The Cradle to Cradle Certified Silver level certification signifies that all grades of NovaSeal meet rigorous standards for material health, material reutilization, renewable energy use, water stewardship, and social fairness.

The Garland Company, Inc. has introduced a smog-reducing cool roofing granule called StressPly Legacy FR Mineral. In a news release, Garland said StressPly Legacy FR Mineral includes a “higher reflectance cool gray smog-reducing granule in its mineral surface. The granules are activated by sunlight, causing the minerals to bond with nearby smog molecules, converting them into water-soluble salt, which washes away with precipitation. From there, the granules are “rejuvenated” and ready to be used again, while the salt (nitrate) is returned to the natural nitrogen cycle, allowing plants to use it. Garland said a typical 20,000-square-foot commercial roof covered in StressPly Legacy FR Mineral cool gray has an estimated smog-reducing benefit equivalent to 216 trees or 14,000 miles of car emissions, the average American's annual driving miles. StressPly Legacy was developed with sustainability as a core focus. StressPly Legacy consists of repurposed polymers that divert materials like Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene, plastics, crumb-rubber from tires and recycled materials away from landfills. StressPly Legacy is a smooth surfaced membrane that uses up to 27% pre-consumer recycled content, 12% post-consumer recycled content, and 1% bio-based content. The packaging consists of corrugated sheets crafted with 100% recycled materials and continues to incorporate sustainability aspects into the pallet bag, roll tape, and stretch film.

EclipsEdge snap-on fascia from Mule-Hide Products Co. makes installing raised roof edges and gravel stops faster and easier. It also provides protection from wind and reduces materials costs. The three-piece design — including fascia cover, steel cleat and concealed splice plate — makes EclipsEdge extremely versatile and eliminates entire steps often required in traditional installations. It can be used in fully adhered and mechanically attached TPO, EPDM and PVC roofing systems, regardless of membrane thickness. There is no need to strip in EclipsEdge. Apply JTS 1 joint and termination sealant on the back edge of the cleat.

IMETCO recently introduced IntelliWrap PR, a permeable, self-adhering roofing underlayment that provides a water- and air-tight vapor-permeable barrier for various roofing systems, including standing seam metal, slate tile, clay tile, and cedar shingle roofs. Designed for steep slopes (2:12 or more), IntelliWrap underlayment can also be used with lower-slope roofs. Vapor permeability expedites the drying of building materials, significantly reducing the risk of moisture infiltration. In addition, IntelliWrap PR underlayment meets ASTM E2178 air-barrier resistance and is formulated to withstand temperatures as high as 250 degrees Fahrenheit. It is compatible with various substrates, including fiberglass-reinforced gypsum sheathing board, rigid insulation, concrete, plywood, steel, galvanized metal, aluminum and OSB.

BRUNT Workwear announced the launch of its first Goodyear welted construction work boots: the new Marin Welted and Mulder Welted styles, saying the new line is designed for trade workers requiring “increased stability, support and [durable] footwear.” By expanding into the welted boots segment, BRUNT said it has enhanced its product range and dedication to offering high-quality workwear solutions for all types of workers at an accessible price point. The new Goodyear welted boots
provide what the company describes as a “sturdier platform with enhanced torsional stability, support and safety for workers in heavy-duty trades by helping to prevent the foot from bending and twisting when working on even surfaces such as rebar, cement, and rocks.” Beginning in August 2024, the Marin Welted and Mulder Welted boots will be available at BRUNT's website and select retail locations across the country.

DuPont announced the launch of its latest addition to the company’s roofing underlayment product line: the Tyvek Protec PSU peel-and-stick underlayment, designed to provide high-temperature and UV resistance along with a slip-resistant walking surface and split liner for easy installation. Among its attributes, Tyvek Protec PSU also offers ICC-ES code report and achieved FL/Miami-Dade certification. The self-adhered Tyvek Protec PSU product is intended for critical areas of the roof, including eaves and valleys that are more susceptible to water leaks. The adhesive layer, composed of rubberized asphalt, is an additional sealant, offering protection at fasteners and nails compared to a mechanically attached sheet. The product also protects against water intrusion due to wind-driven rain and ice dams, allowing it to cater to different climates and regions.

Johns Manville announced the launch of its JM PVC SD Plus Fleeceback product line. Johns Manville will offer a 60mil and 80mil product in both a 76-inch as well as a 144-inch configuration, which can provide added labor savings with fewer welded seams. These new products will continue to use the same proven Johns Manville PVC SD Plus formulation customers trust while adding the durability and application flexibility of the Johns Manville fleeceback product offerings.
