Great Range Capital, a Kansas City-based private equity firm, has acquired Roofed Right America [RRA], a commercial roofing contractor specializing in reroofing and maintenance and repair services. Headquartered in Milwaukee, Wis., with satellite locations in Texas and New Jersey, RRA offers a full suite of roofing solutions throughout the Central and Eastern United States.

Founded in 2006 by Adam Brissman, CEO, and Ricardo Herrera, COO, RRA leverages a technology-enabled approach to provide service to a diverse range of commercial clients. The company has appeared numerous times on Roofing Contractor's Top 100 list. Both Brissman and Herrera will remain in their roles post-closing, alongside the rest of RRA's management team, while also retaining significant ownership stakes.

"We're thrilled to partner with Great Range Capital to execute upon our shared strategic vision for RRA," said Brissman. "Great Range Capital's successful history of supporting businesses as they scale into market leaders was attractive to us, and we're excited to leverage their expertise and resources in our next phase of growth."

RRA said in a statement the partnership with Great Range Capital will support the company's ongoing execution of its organic growth strategy, while also establishing a scalable platform to grow via complementary acquisitions.

"In addition to the resources Great Range Capital brings, we're appreciative of the strong cultural fit between our organizations," Herrera said. "We look forward to working together as we grow RRA in both existing and new markets, and via acquisitions."

Quality Discount Roofing LLC, a residential and commercial contractor, was awarded the 2023 Owens Corning Pinnacle Innovation Award at the company’s annual North American Platinum Preferred Contractors Conference in Scottsdale, Ariz.

In a statement from Quality Discount Roofing, the company says it uses an assortment of technology to create an "innovative experience for not only homeowners but their employees as well." This includes an online onboarding program to virtually train new employees, an automated messaging system to notify customers through the project timeline, and a state-of-the-art estimating tool that, with automation, simplifies the estimating process for sales employees and saves on paper waste.

“We have always tried to be early adopters of new technologies in the marketplace," said Stephen Knuth, director of sales for Quality Discount Roofing, LLC. "We study other industries away from the construction industry to give us insight into what technology can help us to continue our growth. If customers experience technology from Amazon, they will desire to feel the same elsewhere where they make a purchase. Our goal has been to save time while also increasing the customer experience. New technologies shouldn’t only be for our customers but also for our employees. We found a way for them to benefit everyone.”

These processes, according to the company, have saved time and money for the business while increasing the overall experience on both sides and led to an increase in overall customer satisfaction. This caught the attention of Owens Corning, and earned it the Innovation Award.

“These technologies are available from industry leading providers," said Jimmy Soderlund, owner and CEO of Quality Discount Roofing. "Our goal is always to provide top quality customer service, [and] technology has been a tool that makes that process easier in today’s changing world.”

Holcim is continuing its expansion into the United States roofing industry with the acquisition of Duro-Last, a leader in commercial roofing systems.

First revealed in February, Holcim recently announced the completion of its acquisition of Duro-Last for $1.29 billion. According to a statement from Holcim, it expects to exceed $4 billion in net sales ahead of its proposed timeline thanks to the acquisition. Duro-Last has a track record of double-digit growth in the roofing market, with pro forma net sales of $540 million.

“I am excited to welcome all 840 Duro-Last employees to the Holcim family," said Jan Jenisch, CEO of Holcim. "DuroLast is a perfect strategic fit for our roofing business. Its proprietary technologies and leading brands complement our offering in the fast-growing North American market. Its energy-efficient systems and excellence in recycling will further advance our leadership in sustainability."

Jenisch added the acquisition is a step in the expansion of Holcim's Solutions & Products and advances its "Strategy 2025 – Accelerating Green Growth" plan to become a global leader in sustainable building solutions.

Duro-Last’s systems range from cool roofs that enhance buildings’ energy efficiency to its award-winning “Recycle Your Roof” program, driving circularity in roofing. Duro-Last is the first company in the U.S. to offer third-party verified environmental product declarations for its thermoplastic roofing solutions. Duro-Last’s systems are in line with green building certifications such as LEED.

"We are delighted to be joining the Holcim family, which shares our core values, and we look to the future to accelerate our success. Holcim recognizes the opportunities at Duro-Last and we are confident it will support us in our future growth plans," said Tom Saeli, CEO of Duro-Last, in a previous statement.

In early 2022, Holcim acquired Malarkey Roofing Products for $1.35 billion. Holcim later acquired Firestone Building Products in April 2021, rebranding it to Holcim Building Envelope.
