RC’s latest group of emerging roofing leaders explore their passion for the trades and how to take their companies to the next level.

by Art Aisner

For the second consecutive year, RC hosted roofing contractors under the age of 40 a day early at Best of Success for a special workshop geared toward the industry’s youth movement.

About a dozen roofers from companies across the country joined RC’s Young Guns Roundtable experience at Live! by Loews in Arlington, Texas. Facilitated by Art Unlimited CEO Ann Anderson, Sales Transformation Group’s Ryan Groth, and Contractor Dynamics CEO Joe Hughes, the session allowed attendees got to share their visions for their companies, reveal their key issues, and workshop potential solutions in a peer-to-peer, non-competitive environment.

Whether managing operations, heading up marketing campaigns, excelling at lead generation and sales, this year’s crop of young roofers brought ideas, vision and intention to what we call our Young Guns workshop annually at RC’s Best of Success conference.

In addition to this year’s facilitators, former RC Young Guns Josey Parks (2014), Anissa Westfall (2015), director of marketing and growth at Westfall Roofing, and Michele Boykin (2019), joined Alivo Co-founder and CEO Max Meade as subject matter experts to help steer conversations during the two-hour session.

“This is a great opportunity for everybody in the room,” said Boykin, branch manager of Weather Shield Roofing Systems of Florida, reflecting on her own experience from Best of Success 2019 in Miami. “There are others here who are part of organizations to get involved with. And it’s a great event to meet people in the industry and to get connected.”

Some participants said they got more than just a few tips and took advantage of the opportunity to glean practical advice from roofers who were in their shoes not all that long ago.

“Young Guns wasn’t about job titles—it was about alignment,” said Victoria Ogrizek, customer experience officer with Home Genius Exteriors of Ohio. “Being surrounded by peers who value people, integrity, and the bigger picture reinforced that the future of roofing belongs to leaders willing to listen, learn, and lead with purpose. It was refreshing, motivating, and exactly the kind of room you want to be in.”

Others said they found value in collaborating with roofers of diverse skills and backgrounds.

“Being in a room with successful operators who all approach the business differently — and openly share what works for them — was eye-opening,” said Griffin Libhart, Chief Operating Officer of One Day Roofing. “It was a real mix of ideas, perspectives, and problem-solving approaches, and I walked away with several takeaways.”
