The 2024 Top 150 Roofing Contractors by Region
Find out how the Top 150 contractors stack up when ranked according to their markets
With so many entries this year, the Top 100 list was expanded to become the Top 150, spotlighting contractors nationwide. With that expansion comes an interesting spread of where contractors are doing business.
Released annually in August, the Top 100 list ranks roofing contractors by their self-reported revenue. Larger companies with nationwide footprints tend to seize the top spots, so we at RC like to break down the list to see how the companies compare when grouped by region.
When submitting their company for the Top 100 list, contractors were asked to select one of nine regions that best represents their market or location. Of the regions, the South Atlantic had the most representation, with 47 entrants. Meanwhile, the New England region had the least representation, with four entries.
The number of entries per region is as follows:
- South Atlantic: 47
- West South Central: 26
- East North Central: 22
- West North Central: 17
- East South Central: 12
- Middle Atlantic: 10
- Mountain: 8
- New England: 4
- Pacific: 7
Editor's Note: The total comes to 153 due to some "ties" in revenue totals on the Top 150 list
As one might expect, many companies at the top of the Top 150 list are ranked the highest in their regions. However, other companies can now claim a rank in the upper echelons of their region.
Take O’Hara and Sons Roofing in Chicago. On the Top 150, it ranks at #17, but it is the fourth-highest contractor in the East North Central Region. Thor Uremovich, marketing designer with O’Hara, said the company was on track to increase profits in 2024 and wears its Top 100 rankings “as a gold medal.”
“We have continued to hire top talent and high performers in both roofing and business to increase our productivity. This new influx of talent includes salespeople, safety officers, IT and marketing professionals, and a new director of National Service,” Uremovich said, later adding, “OSR’s previous recognitions from Roofing Contractor have been instrumental in the recruitment of top talent in the field and a badge of quality to our customers.”
Farrell Roofing, located in Dunkirk, N.Y., is #42 on the Top 150 list but claims the #2 spot in the Middle Atlantic region. This was the first time the commercial contractor entered a submission to the list.
When asked what the company has done to succeed, Jade Wells, communications and marketing manager for Farrell Roofing, said that in the last year, they dedicated employees to three different regions, focusing solely on building customer relationships.
“Our Corporate office has gained employees in the past year that are bringing more efficiency to our Accounting and Safety Departments, visibility to our marketing efforts, and improving our recruiting abilities,” Wells said. “We’ve also invested in technology for AP, HR, Payroll, Operations, and Estimating, allowing each aspect of our business to become more efficient.”
