"We are proud to welcome Groupe Expan to Atlas,” said Ken Roberts, president of Atlas. “This acquisition allows us to expand our geographic footprint, enrich our product portfolio aligned with our strategic vision, and strengthen our position as one of the largest molded polystyrene manufacturers in North America."
Groupe Expan, one of the three largest manufacturers of expanded polystyrene in Canada, will become Atlas Roofing's strategic platform in Eastern Canada.
"Atlas Roofing Corporation has a strong history of investing in local markets and supporting community initiatives, which perfectly aligns with our commitment to better serve our customers," said Jean-François Breton, president of Groupe Expan.
In a news release, Atlas said the clientele of each of the Groupe Expan companies will benefit as the group can rely on the strength and scale of its new owner to access increased production capacities, higher purchasing volumes, extended geographic reach, and improved competitiveness.
"Each company will be better equipped to face the challenges of the manufacturing sector and adapt to its evolution," the company said in the news release.
As part of Atlas, Groupe Expan will also be positioned to stay at the forefront of innovation, technology, and research and development.

Florida’s insurance market faces challenges, with multiple carriers leaving and Citizens Insurance under pressure. Meanwhile, FM Global, a self-funded insurer known for safety and liability mitigation, claims to have developed a testing system that certifies panels for fire and hail resistance.
“We did a ton of research on how panels are built and should be built,” Louis Gritzo, chief science officer for FM, which focuses on commercial properties, told Insurance Journal, which first reported the story. “The hope is that it’s going to change the way that renewables are implemented and distributed.”
The FM announcement gains importance as several Florida carriers avoid covering residential and some commercial panels. They argue that rooftop panels, regardless of type, are leak-prone. Insurers also mention the added cost of removing panels for roof repairs or replacements.
FM has established examination standards for panels, including the FM 4478 standard for severe hail and fire, as well as a distinct standard for hail impact referred to as FM 4473.
Several solar manufacturers have been actively promoting FM certifications for their rooftop photovoltaic panels. These certifications have become increasingly important for commercial and industrial buildings — especially those insured by FM Global — and facilities located in regions prone to severe weather, according to Emphase Energy.
“Doing it this way really floats all boats,” Gritzo said about the solar system certification. “It would be great if other insurance companies want to use our certifications.”

Roofing Corp of America announced the purchase of San Diego, Calif.-based A-1 All American Roofing Co., to its growing platform of brands.
In a news release, RCA said the purchase marks RCA’s 14th acquisition since its founding in December 2020. Additionally, A-1 All American Roofing extends RCA’s West Coast market position to the southernmost large market city in the U.S.
RCA said A-1 All American, which specializes in serving multi-family and hospitality clients, will become its 25th branch.
A-1 All American was founded in 1996 by Greg Savran, who, RCA said, will continue to lead the company as a stand-alone entity within its portfolio. RCA added that the company has built “strong and lasting client relationships” by prioritizing their expectations for responsiveness, quality and safety.
“We are very excited for the future of A-1 All American Roofing as a part of Roofing Corp of America,” Savran said. “We believe our customers and team members will quickly see the benefits of our partnership with the dynamic and growing collection of world-class roofing contractors.”
RCA, based in Atlanta, has been an aggressive acquirer of roofing contractor firms nationwide, a trend facilitated by CEO Randy Korach's acquisition of RCA from Soundcore Capital Partners in December 2023, following a $413 million capital investment by FirstService Corporation.
“We’ve been looking for the right partner in the San Diego market for some time and are proud that Greg and A-1 All American Roofing are now part of the family,” Korach said. “They extend our reach into targeted market segments and geographically.”

All Weather Insulated Panels launched IMPpro, a loyalty program to support its dealer network with tools and resources. Each level offers tailored benefits for member success.
Top partners can earn membership in any of the program’s four categories — President’s Club, Platinum, Gold and Silver — with value-added benefits included in each tier.
President’s Club partners achieve benefits ranging from co-branded marketing materials and public bid lead generation support to two complimentary Vision Packages, the 25-year standard weather-tightness and paint warranty, and two all-expenses-covered IMPpro training sessions. Each of the other tiers includes a subset of these rewards.
“At AWIP, we value our partners and make it a priority to give back to them as a thank you for their support,” said AWIP Vice President of Sales Joe Paparella. “Our new IMPpro customer loyalty program works to achieve that goal by providing our dealer network with both incentives and rewards as they advance through the program’s tiers.”
As part of the program, AWIP is also offering training for authorized installers to equip them with the expertise required to install AWIP’s insulated metal panels.
Sessions are available throughout the year at AWIP’s three facilities in East Stroudsburg, Pa., Little Rock, Ark., and Vacaville, Calif. Training will rotate between locations every quarter.
