TRUFAST continues growing its portfolio of TubeSeal self-sealing fasteners by introducing the Thermal-Grip TubeSeal fastener, designed for insulation attachment over an air barrier or WRB.

The TubeSeal fastener is available in lengths for insulation nominal thickness from one inch to 4 inches and comes in half-inch increments. Thermal-Grip TubeSeal ensures a tailored fit for various insulation needs. TRUFAST says that, in addition to securely attaching insulation, Thermal-Grip TubeSeal fasteners help seal blind fastener penetrations of a WRB and/or air barrier while enhancing the overall integrity of the building envelope. The fastener is suitable for all weather climates with its UV-resistant, semi-rigid tube construction. For added convenience, it is available pre-assembled with various TRUFAST Grip-Deck screws, including SDS (self-drilling) or HiLo thread with various washers for insulation or lath.

Keen Utility, ‘outfitter’ to the trades, unveiled its new Evanston work boot, new for Spring 2024, noting that the Evanston offers “…the burly protection of a work boot with the athletic feel and flexibility of a sneaker.” In a news release, KEEN Utility said the Evanston boot’s product highlights include:

BRUNT Workwear, a growing workwear brand, announced the launch of its first Goodyear welted construction work boots: the new Marin Welted and Mulder Welted styles, saying the new line is designed for trade workers requiring “increased stability, support and [durable] footwear.” By expanding into the welted boots segment, BRUNT said it has enhanced its product range and dedication to offering high-quality workwear solutions for all types of workers at an accessible price point.

The new Goodyear welted boots have several key features the company said sets them apart from the existing product line, including Goodyear welted construction, enhanced stability and support, and job site-tested durability. Mulder Welted features a long-wearing TPU outsole as well as an external toe cap for added durability, improved traction, and competitive pricing.

Tubos Inc., the manufacturer of pre-engineered vent stack extensions, has extended its product line with a 5-inch diameter vent stack extension for commercial roofing applications. Patented Tubos pipe extensions are now available in 2-, 3-, 4- and 5-inch diameters to accommodate most common vent stack sizes. Tubos products are fully compatible with both cast iron and PVC vent stacks, and each Tubos unit features a 6-inch internal splice sleeve that prevents water and moisture from leaking into the roofing assembly. In a news release, Tubos says it offers easy and cost-effective solutions for extending vent stacks on commercial buildings. When insulation is added during a reroofing project to meet building code R-value requirements, the height of the vent stack over the roof is effectively shortened, frequently removing it from building or plumbing code compliance. Tubos units are installed in four steps: measure, cut, seal, and flash. Each 28-inch-long unit can be cut and used to extend two pipes, and extensions can be up to 16 inches long. They are ideal for use when a tapered system is added or a new lightweight insulating concrete deck is poured.

Polyglass U.S.A., Inc. announces the launch of Modifleece, a fleece-backed Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene (SBS) modified bitumen roofing membrane base sheet. Designed for use in multi-ply low-slope roofing systems, Polygass said in a news release that Modifleece “sets a new standard in roofing technology, offering unparalleled performance and versatility.” Modifleece integrates a specially formulated dual compound into the polyester fabric, creating a seamless bond between the two components. The self-adhered side laps are safeguarded by a protective release film, which is removed during application to reveal the self-adhered SBS compound, ensuring watertight seams. Polyglass notes it is suitable for application directly over irregular or semi-rough substrates, including Lightweight Concrete, and as a recovery option over existing modified bitumen roofing systems. Polyglass says the non-penetrating system saves valuable install time when compared to fastened base sheet systems, particularly in high-wind areas.

DuPont announced the launch of its latest addition to the company’s roofing underlayment product line: the Tyvek Protec PSU peel-and-stick underlayment, designed to provide high-temperature and UV resistance along with a slip-resistant walking surface and split liner for easy installation. Among its attributes, Tyvek Protec PSU also offers ICC-ES code report and achieved FL/Miami-Dade certification. The self-adhered Tyvek Protec PSU product is intended for critical areas of the roof, including eaves and valleys that are more susceptible to water leaks. The adhesive layer, composed of rubberized asphalt, is an additional sealant, offering protection at fasteners and nails compared to a mechanically attached sheet. The product also protects against water intrusion due to wind-driven rain and ice dams, allowing it to cater to different climates and regions.

Johns Manville announced the launch of its JM PVC SD Plus Fleeceback product line. Johns Manville will offer a 60mil and 80mil product in both a 76-inch as well as a 144-inch configuration, which can provide added labor savings with fewer welded seams. These new products will continue to use the same proven Johns Manville PVC SD Plus formulation customers trust while adding the durability and application flexibility of the Johns Manville fleeceback product offerings.
