IKO, a global industry leader in the roofing, waterproofing and insulation industry, confirmed that it plans to construct a new manufacturing campus in Clay County, Fla., near Jacksonville.

Construction of the new $270 million site will include an asphalt shingle production facility, an insulation board plant and a commercial rolled roofing plant. The 300,000-square-foot facilities will initially employ about 100 people locally. The company intends to begin work on the site near Florida Highway 301 and County Road 218 later this year.

It marks the eighth modern shingle production line in IKO's North American manufacturing operations and the first facility it has built in Florida.

"As a company, we have a strong belief that you can never remain static; you are always in a situation where you are looking to contract or grow your business," said David Koschitzky, CEO of IKO North America. "In the past decade, we've made some of the largest investment commitments we've ever made as a family business; they are a clear statement of our belief in the growth of our company and of the strength of our industry.”

As reported in the Jacksonville Daily Record, IKO South Inc. paid $5.26 million in April for 80 acres in Clay County, where it will build three plants.

"This project will provide generational opportunities for Clay County residents in the form of quality, high-wage employment, and the county as a whole will benefit from the significant capital investment. Manufacturing is the backbone of the American economy," stated Crawford Powell, president of the Clay County Economic Development Corporation.

IKO anticipates the new shingle plant will begin operations in the first half of 2025, the ISO plant in the second half of 2025, and the rolled roofing plant in the first half of 2026. IKO has closed two plants in the past decade due to being 60 to 70 years old.

Omnia Exterior Solutions, a newly formed portfolio company of CCMP Growth Advisors, LP, announced the launch of its platform as a national provider of residential roofing solutions and exterior remodeling services.

In a news release, the company said its first strategic partnership would be with Hoffman Weber Construction, based in Minneapolis, Minn. Hoffman Weber is a two-generation, family-owned firm specializing in roofing, exterior design-build remodeling and restoration services.

Founded in 1992 by John Weber, in 2003, Joe Hoffman joined the company as a partner, and the company was renamed Hoffman Weber. In the last 20 years, the company has become a cutting-edge contractor in its market.

Omnia Exterior Solutions said it was created to address “…a gap in the residential roofing industry through exclusive partners who are local and regional leaders in their respective markets.” The company plans to provide partner organizations with administrative support, digital tools and other resources to grow their businesses.

CCMP, with investments in leading brands like Hayward and Generac, said industry veteran Jim Ziminski will lead Omnia Exterior Solutions to support and grow high-potential residential roofing and remodeling businesses as each joins the new consortium.

Ziminski, who brings more than 30 years of experience in residential services and building products, will chair the board for Omnia Exterior. Previously, he ran various businesses for the Crane Group, including residential roofing service brands ABLE Roofing and Mr. Roof. Additionally, Ziminski ran the Exterior Portfolio siding brand, which he then shepherded through a successful sale to Westlake Royal Building Products.

"Hoffman Weber is the perfect example of a like-minded business owner who shares our values and is committed to building the Omnia Exterior Solutions platform, which collectively benefits all our partners, their customers and their teams," said Ziminski. "We want to partner with curious, life-long learners who are willing to adapt to the changing marketplace, embrace best practices and evolve their businesses … in a way that positions them for broader success.”

Details of the partnership include Hoffman Weber retaining its company name and local teams; it will operate as part of the Omnia Exterior Solutions platform with additional administrative, operational and marketing resources.

Hoffman will also join the board of Omnia Exterior Solutions and maintain a leadership position with Hoffman Weber. Moreover, Hoffman will be part of the newly formed Omnia Legacy Builder Council, which will focus on collaborating and sharing best practices across all Omnia partner companies.

"Omnia Exterior Solutions shares our commitment to building a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement as a strategic foundation of success," Hoffman said. "We're incredibly excited to join the platform because we see a tremendous opportunity to accelerate our growth and expand into new markets.”
