DaVinci Roofscapes announced the six winners of the 2024 DaVinci Masterpiece Contractor Project of the Year Awards.

Five residential projects and one commercial project nationwide were chosen to receive the prestigious award. DaVinci Masterpiece Contractors' qualifications for the award include excellence in installation work, outstanding visual impact and the ability of the roofing work to transform the look of a home or commercial project.

The top honors for residential projects are awarded to:

  • Allstar Construction, Eden Prairie, Minn., for reconstructing and reroofing a historic home following a fire. DaVinci Multi-Width Slate roofing, credited by firefighters with saving the structure from massive fire damage, was replaced on the roof of the 140-plus-year-old mansion.
  • Great Roofing and Restoration, Columbus, Ohio, for replacing a wind-damaged roof with a DaVinci Multi-Width Slate roof in Smokey Gray on a castle-like estate. The team retained the existing copper turret and gutters to maintain the integrity of the expansive roof.
  • JnJ Restoration, Evanston, Ill., for the restoration of three structures on a historic property in the Village of Lake Forest with DaVinci Select Shake. The local historical district approved the team for installing the composite roofing product and for selecting the Black Oak color.
  • Oconee Designer Roofing, Milledgeville, Ga., for replacing the roof on a sprawling lakeside home with a DaVinci Single-Width Shake roof. An on-trend Tahoe color complemented the stacked stone exterior, giving the house a refined, natural appearance.
  • Shake Guys, Milwaukee, Wis., for updating the roof on a lakeside estate with weather-resistant DaVinci Select Shake. The custom home’s intricate roof features custom copper finishes and a dozen dormer windows.

The commercial project receiving top honors is:

  • Totin Too, LLC, Wexford, Pa., for replacing the failing standing seam metal roof on the Shannopin Country Club structure in Pittsburgh with DaVinci Single-Width Slate in a European blend. The 100-plus-year-old historic clubhouse was brought back to its original look with the synthetic slate roof.

Hayward, Calif.-based Bigham Taylor Roofing Inc. earned the “Hall of Fame 500” award from Carlisle SynTec Systems, the first contractor in California to achieve 500 Perfect 10 scores based on manufacturer inspections on reroofing jobs using Carlisle's single-ply membrane.

"This award is the result of a continued focus on doing quality work across the board and shines a light on our great crews in the field," Bigham Taylor's General Manager and Partner, Steve Galli, said in a news release.

“We also have great partnerships with Carlisle’s technical reps who visit our job sites to ensure we adhere to their specification standards at the highest level,” Galli added, noting that BT’s partnership with Carlisle SynTec Systems dates back to 1983.

As of the fall of 2024, Bigham Taylor had installed more than 21.5 million square feet of Carlisle single-ply membrane on projects across Northern and Central California and Northern Nevada.

“Bigham Taylor is a tremendous contractor to work with,” says Mike Lampkin, partner at Building Enclosure Solutions Inc., an independent sales agent for Carlisle SynTec Systems. “We’ve been working with them for more than 20 years and can’t speak highly enough about everyone there, from the people in the field to the office. They are some of the industry's most impressive people, and it’s good to see them recognized with an honor that not many people earn.”

In addition to the Carlisle SynTec Systems Hall of Fame 500 award, BT has earned the company’s Excellence in Single Ply Award from 2010 to 2024 (except in 2015), Perfection Award from 2013 to 2017, and then from 2020 to 2024; served on the Perfection Council in 2016 and 2017, then from 2019 to this year; and earned Fleeceback Champions status in 2016 and 2019 to 2024
