DuPont de Nemours International Sàrls launched DuPont™ Tedlar® PV Rescue Tape, a new solution aimed at repairing photovoltaic panels with damaged backsheets and prolonging service lifetime at a fraction of the cost needed to replace modules. Tedlar PV Rescue Tape is a composite tri-layer structure composed of a DuPont Tedlar polyvinyl fluoride film outer layer, a polyester core and an inner layer made of butyl rubber for a strong adhesion to the degraded backsheet. The backsheet repair tape and service will initially be commercialized in Europe through a new collaboration between DuPont Photovoltaic Solutions and sc-refit GmbH, an affiliate of Suncycle GmbH, a company that specializes in aftersales solutions, test and repair products and processes for the photovoltaic industry.

New Detec TruGround® Conductive Primer from Mule-Hide Products Co. makes effective electronic leak detection (ELD) of conventional roof assemblies fast and easy, helping ensure that a roofing system is watertight and free of breaches, holes, and seam voids. The patented water-based, liquid-applied, electronically conductive medium is applied directly to the substrate, using a brush or roller, prior to membrane adhesion. Discontinuities in the membrane can then be found by applying an electrical current to the surface of the membrane. Once applied, the primer allows ELD testing — using low- or high-voltage testing methods — for the life of the roofing system.

ATAS International introduces a new coping, which incorporates secure locking features to increase its performance in high wind environments. Rapid-Lok SL Coping is a snap-on system with continuous cleats front and back with no exposed fasteners. Singapore-based Maxeon Solar Technologies announced the commercialization of its new Maxeon Air technology platform, which will utilize frameless, thin and lightweight solar panels that perform as well as standard solar panels. The panels will be featured in select projects in Europe in the second half of 2021, with general availability scheduled for the first quarter of 2022. The install weight of the panels is around 13 pounds (6 kilograms) per square meter, while the panels themselves are .2 inches (4 millimeters) in width, which is thinner than a standard pencil. Maxeon Air solar panels have an efficiency of 20.9% combined with a low-power temperature coefficient, shade tolerance and wide spectral response.

Rocket Equipment will debut the Trash Rocket 3000 (TR-3000) during the 2021 International Roofing Expo, taking place Aug. 10-12 at Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nev. The TR-3000 is a smaller version of Rocket Equipment's commercial grade Trash Rocket 3900. TR-3000 is a compact unit for easy transport and setup in most residential driveways.
