Beacon announced it has opened four greenfield branches to serve residential and non-residential roofing customers in the Midwest and Southern U.S.

New branches in Lafayette, Ind., and La Crosse, Wis., will serve the upper Midwest markets.

“Both locations are well positioned to provide a full range of exterior products to new and current customers seeking to grow their businesses in adjacent towns,” said Larry Augello, Beacon’s regional vice president, North Central.

“Contractors will benefit from our team’s knowledge and service commitment as well as access to helpful tools such as online ordering via our industry-leading Beacon PRO+ app,” he added.

The new St. Augustine, Fla. branch will further serve the First Coast area.

“Beacon specializes in the building materials and services that this busy construction market requires,” Jack Gill, Beacon’s regional vice president, Florida, said. “Our new location adds another convenient, well-stocked branch that includes our private-label TRI-BUILT product line that delivers professional results at a competitive price.”

The new Frisco, Texas branch will serve the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

“This Beacon location is the 11th to serve this active new construction, repair and replacement market,” Peter Lippert, regional vice president, Texas, said.

“We are pleased to join the fast-growing Frisco community and strengthen the Beacon OTC network that gets contractors what they need when they need it,” Lippert continued.

In a news release, Beacon said the additional greenfield locations continue to drive above-market growth through footprint expansion and is an important element of its Ambition 2025 plan.

The Metal Roofing Alliance’s quarterly winner of the trade group’s “Best Residential Roofing Project” competition highlights what the MRA described as a “lightweight contender that delivers performance far exceeding expectations, surpassing an industry heavyweight.”

The 6,000-square-foot home is located on Dona Bay in Nokomis, Fla., about 72 miles south of Tampa on the state’s West Coast.

The MRA says the home’s owners were searching for a long-term, durable roofing solution to survive the direct blows the home sustained during Hurricane Ian in 2022.

The old, heavy concrete tile roof had suffered significant damage, so the homeowners decided to replace it with a metal roof in slate style from EDCO Products, installed by Metal Roofing Headquarters, also known as MRHQ Roofs.

The MRA says the new metal roof offers curb appeal, superior wind resistance, strong and long-lasting performance, and minimal long-term maintenance requirements.

“It’s a literal fortress for your home,” said Jonathan Boyer, co-owner and director of operations for Metal Roofing Headquarters.

With this competition phase closed, the search is on for MRA’s Best Residential Metal Roofing project for the first quarter 2025.

Open to U.S. and Canadian homeowners, contractors, installers and manufacturers, MRA officials partner with Metal Coffee Shop to select an outstanding metal roofing project based on entries received each quarter.

Honors are awarded for project appearance, performance, and originality/use of materials. Interested participants can find information about how to enter and the competition rules online here.

Holcim announced that following the execution of the planned spin-off of its North American business, the new independent public company will be called “Amrize.”

In a news release, Holcim described the origin, saying Amrize originates from two concepts, “ambition” and “rising.”

“Am” represents the future company’s commitment to high performance and innovation to meet its customers’ greatest ambitions. “Rize” symbolizes the company’s drive to lead construction forward across North America to shape the essential buildings and infrastructure that advance how people live.

"Introducing the Amrize name marks an important step as we prepare Holcim’s North American business to become an independent public company,” Jan Jenisch, chairman of Holcim and designated Chairman and CEO of Amrize, said.

"This is an exciting time for construction in North America, with the ongoing modernization of infrastructure, the reshoring of manufacturing, and the opportunity to bridge the housing gap with the most advanced building solutions,” Jenisch added.

The company intends to list Amrize shares under the symbol ‘‘AMRZ’’ on the New York Stock Exchange with an additional listing on the SIX Swiss Exchange.

The company said the Amrize name and associated branding will go into effect with the completion of the spin-off, which is expected by the end of the first half of 2025, subject to shareholder and customary approvals.

Until then, the North American business continues to operate as part of Holcim.
